The aircraft carrying the Pope and his entourage took off from Yaoundé-Nsimalen International Airport at 12:47 p.m. local time. Arrival in Luanda, Angola, is scheduled after a flight of about two and a half hours. A short while earlier during the farewell ceremony at the Cameroonian airport, Pope Leo together with Cameroon’s Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute, listened to the national anthems. With the guard of honor lined up, they walked along a long red carpet to the foot of the aircraft, greeting the various institutional and ecclesiastical authorities present. Schedule in Angola Pope Leo XIV will remain in Angola until Tuesday, April 21. He will then conclude his apostolic journey in Equatorial Guinea. The motto of the trip is 'Pope Leo XIV, pilgrim of hope, reconciliation and peace, blesses Angola.' Many events await the Pope starting Saturday afternoon, including a courtesy visit to the President of the Republic, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço.
