Pope Leo XIV receives the President of the Republic of Singapore in the Vatican on Thursday.

By Deborah Castellano Lubov Pope Leo met with the President of the Republic of Singapore, His Excellency Tharman Shanmugaratnam, in the Vatican on Thursday morning. The President subsequently met with Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, accompanied by the Vatican Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher. According to a statement from the Holy See Press Office released after the encounter, the talks at the Secretariat of State were cordial and the good relations between the Holy See and Singapore were highlighted. Moreover, it noted that appreciation was expressed for the harmonious coexistence of the various cultures and religions present in the country, including the Catholic Church’s contribution to the common good. Finally, in the course of the discussion, the statement concluded, there was also an exchange of views on the international and regional situation, and the importance of supporting and renewing the existing mechanisms of the multilateral system.
