Tunisia positions itself at the forefront of Africa’s climate response by advancing national strategies and hosting a major forum to boost regional cooperation and technology access.

According to the Vatican’s Fides news agency, the announcement came during the opening of the African Forum of National Focal Points in Hammamet, a four-day gathering that brought together climate experts and policymakers from 50 countries to accelerate the continent's response to climate change. Model for climate adaptation and green transition Tunisian authorities highlighted the country’s integrated approach to addressing challenges, including the regeneration of ecosystems affected by environmental degradation and the promotion of sustainable development models. By prioritizing clean technologies and innovation, Tunisia is positioning itself as a reference point for other African nations seeking scalable and practical climate solutions. The forum, organized in collaboration with the United Nations Technology Network, underscores the growing urgency for coordinated continental action. Officials stressed the need for a unified African roadmap to improve access to financing, facilitate technology transfer, and support innovation in key sectors such as renewable energy, smart agriculture, and water management. Regional cooperation and technology access The 2026 edition of the forum focuses on strengthening regional partnerships and responding to increasing demand for climate technologies across the continent. Discussions emphasized the role of digital tools, including artificial intelligence, in enhancing project sustainability and improving long-term resilience. Participants, including regional leaders and technical experts, also called for expanding collaboration mechanisms to ensure that developing countries can effectively implement climate strategies and benefit from shared expertise. The initiative reflects a broader continental effort to align environmental priorities with economic development and technological advancement.
